📍 Location: Giesbeek (Arnhem region), the Netherlands (with occasional days in Amsterdam)
💼 Employment type: 32 hours per week
📩 Reports to: CFO
Are you a pragmatic financial professional who enjoys getting hands-on? Do you have experience with Dutch bookkeeping, VAT returns, and management reporting? Then we are looking for you!
As a Financial Controller, you will manage the daily financial operations in the Netherlands for two ambitious technology start-ups: the HAL24K spin-offs HAL24K Agri and Maince. You will have a broad role, where you are actively involved in both the operational tasks and in preparing reports for management and shareholders. You love having an overview, take initiative, and enjoy working independently, but you also know when to coordinate with colleagues or external accountants.
Your Responsibilities
Invoicing & Purchase Invoices
- You oversee customer invoicing and maintain contact with clients to ensure timely payments.
- You process purchase invoices and check them for accuracy and compliance with company policy.
VAT Administration & Reporting
- You prepare and submit VAT returns.
- You monitor VAT transactions and ensure proper documentation for audits.
Financial Management & Reporting
- You prepare monthly and quarterly reports for management.
- You support the preparation of annual financial statements and compliance with local accounting standards.
- You compile financial reports for management and shareholders and provide strategic recommendations.
Collaboration & Compliance
- You work with external accountants to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with Dutch regulations.
- You provide support during internal audits and financial controls.
- You implement and improve financial processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.
Payroll Administration
- You ensure accurate personnel administration.
- Together with the external payroll administrator, you provide the correct payroll data on a monthly basis.
- You oversee all tax filings and payments related to personnel costs.
What You Bring
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Finance, Business Economics, or Accountancy
- Demonstrable experience in a similar role in the Netherlands
- Extensive knowledge of Dutch accounting standards and VAT regulations
- Experience with financial software and Excel / Google Sheets
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
- Fluent in Dutch and English (both written and spoken)
