Financial Controller

About the Job
📍 Location: Giesbeek (Arnhem region), the Netherlands (with occasional days in Amsterdam)
💼 Employment type: 32 hours per week
📩 Reports to: CFO
Are you a self-reliant and detail-oriented financial professional who keeps oversight while also comfortable diving into the day-to-day administration? Do you have experience with Dutch bookkeeping in an international setting, VAT returns, and management reporting - and are you looking for a role where you can truly influence processes and outcomes? What you will do
As a Financial Controller at HAL24K Agri, you’ll manage the day-to-day financial operations of our ambitious start-up. You combine hands-on execution with strategic insight, ensuring financial accuracy from invoicing to reporting, while communicating clearly with employees, management, and shareholders.
Financial Administration & Invoicing
- Manage invoicing processes and maintain communication with clients on outstanding payments
- Review and process purchase invoices
- Record and verify general ledger transactions
- Support project administration and process project-related data into the financial system
VAT & Reporting
- Prepare and submit VAT returns
- Ensure accurate documentation and compliance during audits
- Draft monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
- Assist in preparing annual financial statements and ensure compliance with local accounting standards
Strategic & Operational
- Prepare financial reports for management and shareholders
- Provide financial insights and make strategic recommendations
- Analyse and improve financial processes to increase efficiency and accuracy
Collaboration & Payroll
- Act as the main point of contact for external accountants and support audit processes
- Review payroll administration and ensure compliance with tax obligations related to personnel
What you bring
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Business Economics, or Accountancy
- At least 3 years of experience as a Financial Controller or similar role in the Netherlands
- In-depth knowledge of Dutch accounting standards and VAT regulations
- Experience with financial software and Excel and/or Google Sheets
- Familiarity with Business Intelligence tools for reporting both financial and non-financial information
- Excellent analytical skills and strong attention to detail
- Strong communication skills — you can clearly and effectively inform colleagues and external stakeholders
- Fluent in Dutch and proficient in English (both written and spoken)
